Signs of Post Winter Water Damage
Winter is slowly creeping out of our lives. In a few weeks, spring will finally be here! I bet you’re pretty concerned about what the winter may have done to your home. Well, maybe not… but you should be! With all of the storms, snow, ice, etc., there is a possibility that you may have gained some water damage from all of it. Thankfully, there are a couple indications that will be able to tell you if anything has gone wrong.
Ruined Siding/Roofing. If there have been any bad storms in your area, you might have had some of your siding and/or roofing destroyed. If you have, you may want to check inside of the home in the areas with tears, holes, etc. Signs of water damage could be swelling on the walls, water spots, or even mold.
Broken Seals. Just because you have a broken seal doesn’t mean that you are going to have water damage in that area. But it doesn’t hurt to check it out. Broken seals can be identified by a slight breeze in the home or an increase in your monthly bills. Warping, swelling, and mold are common signs of this.
Sloping Floors. Sloping generally occurs when there is water underneath the home. The slope is caused from more water on one side. You can usually tell when the floor is sloping by the actual tilt of the floor. If not, there may be spots on the floor from the water damage.
Saggy Roof. Sagging is usually caused by an excessive amount of weight on the roof. Weight can be caused by ice, snow, debris, and excessive shingles. This is typically extremely noticeable and can be seen from outside of the home. Once you notice this, you need to get it taken care of immediately. There is a chance the roof will collapse.
All of these may not necessarily mean water damage. But, if you check them out and feel that you might need to have it checked out professionally, you’re in luck! We offer free estimates for all of our customers, 24/7. Give us a call with all of your water restoration needs!
